  • Hardhead
The Hardhead duck, sometimes still referred to as the White eyed duck, is the only true diving duck found in Australia. They are a common bird, and like other members of the pochard group, they feed by diving deeply for the aquatic creatures they feed off of. As a general rule these birds avoid costal waters.

  • Mistle Thrush
Found in open woodlands and cultivated land all over europe and much of asia, the mistle thrush is similar in appearance to the song thrush. However this bird is larger than the song thrush, and has neat round spots as opposed to the well-known heart-shaped spots of the song thrush. The breast is also much less buff. The song is a simpler version of the blackbird song, and the alarm call similar to rapid gunfire.

  • Chough
While its black plumage identifies it as a crow, the chough (pronounced 'chuff') has a red bill and legs unlike any other member of the crow family. It has a restricted westerly distribution in the British Isles and because of its small population size and historically declining populations it is an Amber List species. It readily displays its mastery of flight with wonderful aerial displays of diving and swooping. Found in flocks in autumn and winter.

  • Great Cormorant

An extremely wide spread bird, its breeding range extends all over europe and asia, south across africa, to the atlantic coast of North America.
